The department's adaptation rules, recommended by the department's adaptation committee and approved by the department chair on September 18, 2023, are outlined below. Please consider the following rules when making an adaptation request:
The student applying for adaptation must:
1. Submit the adaptation application petition (available at the end of the page).
2. Provide Annex-1, the adaptation equivalence table (available at the end of the page).
3. Submit transcripts from the previous university, showing the courses successfully completed, along with relevant course content, by the deadline specified in the academic calendar (Previous Education Recognition Applications) to the department chair's office.
Notes:
1. Students requesting adaptation must select the semester courses they must take during the course registration week.
2. For courses deemed suitable for adaptation, you can take advanced courses based on the total credit of the courses. You apply to the department chair's office with a petition specifying the courses to be taken along with an explanation.
3. It is recommended that the Adaptation Committee follow up with the student to seek permission from the responsible faculty member when implementing the adaptation process.
Equivalence Rules for the Software Engineering Department
Article 1 - The instructional language of the Software Engineering Department is 100% English. Therefore, it is a requirement that the language of instruction of the course is in English. This condition does not apply to Turkish Language and Atatürk Principles and Revolution History courses defined in Article 5(ı) of Law No. 2547 and known as YÖK 5(ı).
Article 2 - The equivalence evaluation of a course is done considering the credit of the course (local or ECTS) and its content. The credit of the relevant course to be considered equivalent should be equal to or higher then the credit of the course for which equivalence is sought. Additionally, the course name does not have to be exactly the same as the course to be considered equivalent.
Article 3 - The course content is examined based on the weekly course schedule and the evaluation system (assignments, projects, etc.) by the responsible faculty members of the relevant course in previous terms or years. Following the examination, it is a requirement that the relevant course has at least 90% similarity with the course for which equivalence is sought.
Article 4 - During a student's education, the maximum amount of credit transferable from other universities as summer school or as a special student cannot exceed 10% of our program. Credits taken beyond this ratio will not be counted toward graduation credits.
Article 5 - These rules will be effective starting from the 2023-2024 academic year.
